Rent data, in your conversation

Compare tracked markets, find apartments, and check rent changes with source links and observation dates.

Add the connection before you ask

Follow the steps below to add Average Rent in ChatGPT. After you add the connection, ChatGPT can prompt you to sign in. Pasting this page or the server URL into a chat does not add the connection.

Open ChatGPT Plugins

Create your personal plugin

Downloaded the ZIP and saw “Couldn't add plugin”?

Download the current version, 1.0.5. It fixes the archive import failure in earlier copies. The visible plugin name remains Average Rent.

For rent questions in ChatGPT, open your connected Average Rent plugin and choose Try in chat. Follow the steps above if you have not connected it yet. A bundled MCP archive can show Open in desktop app after upload; that step does not link your Average Rent account in ChatGPT.

Start with a question

Copy a request into a chat with Average Rent selected.

Compare markets

“Compare two-bedroom asking rents in Austin and Dallas. Include sample sizes and observation dates.”

Find apartments

“Find apartments in ZIP code 78704 under $2,000. Include source links and when the prices were observed.”

Check price changes

“Show asking rent changes for this building over the last 30 days.”

Read the results with context

Prices are asking rents from tracked apartment listings. They do not represent signed leases or all US rental homes. Check each source link and observation date. A past listing does not confirm current availability.

One shared data allowance

API and ChatGPT data calls share your allowance. One answer can use several calls. Asking “How many data calls do I have left?” does not use a data call.
